Giving you a bonus post this week for a special announcement. My sketch team, Anointed Greens, is hosting a brand new variety show at The Elysian Theater! This is your official invite. Unlike our past shows, this one involves special guests and a special theme. Our first show is March 12th at 7:30pm.
Special guests for this show include stand-up from Tatyana Guchi and Jordan Rock and music by Sam Oh, aka Gay Virgin. We will also have a special recorded interview with Ashleigh Hairston. The theme for this show is ~Spring Break~ woohoo!
We are also having a food pop-up after the show with Haps Burgers! Come for the comedy, stay for burgers and good times. Laughs, music, and food? What a fun night. Tickets can be bought here
A little more about the show: This is a variety show about pop culture and the sketches it inspires! We combine culture, music, and comedy with a monthly theme and our special guests. A guest will be interviewed about a moment in pop culture that affected their lives, and Anointed Greens will then perform sketches inspired by their stories. The show rounds out with comedy and music performances by other guests, all relating to the theme. Special guests may include stand-up, improv, musicians, Drag, or Vogue performances.
I’m so excited we’re going to be bringing you a brand new show, with new themes and guests, every other month! Come celebrate our debut show with us March 12th at 7:30pm.
If you are unfamiliar with my sketch team, here’s a little bio straight from us:
Hello! We are Dyani Rejae, Paige Elson, and April Rock – known in the comedy world as Anointed Greens. We are a sketch comedy group that performs regularly throughout Los Angeles, but we are also writers and actors in the real world! Collectively, our on-screen and writing credits include Z-Suite, Bel-Air, Frasier (reboot), Grand Crew, Twenties, Nickelodeon, Just Fab, and Apple, as well as UCB's Harold Night, Maude Night, Lloyd Night, being kissed by Seal, touched by Beyoncé, and DM'd by Mariah Carey. That last bit isn’t a credit; we just felt it was really important, too. As you can see, we’re Black Royalty and truly are Anointed (see what we did there?).
In addition to hosting this show, we have performed at SF Sketchfest, Flyover Comedy Fest, and UCB. Our shows have led us to be commissioned for sketches by Chris Rock and the multimedia comedy company Stapleview. Sketches are directed by actor, showrunner, and VO artist Ashleigh Hairston.
Sketch comedy. Stand up. Music. Burgers. What a fantastic time! Hope to see you there! You can also check out our YouTube for a lil taste of our magic.
Cheers,
Paige Elson
